Guy Adams - Vocals
Originally from Edinburgh, Guy has been living in Newcastle now for about 15 years and has been singing for about 10. Guy was the singer of the 'Hotrock House Band' established at Newcastle Music College, and after the close of the band Edd Carr recalled Guy to front his new project, which later became 'Soul Reason'.
Adam Beaney/Adam Sinclair - Drums
Adam Beaney began his musical
career on the piano before progressing onto the drum kit. Adam completed the
highest grade on the instrument at 15 and has since began teaching. He played
in the popular funk band 'Slapjack' and followed his brother Mark to the
Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts to complete his degree. He is now
drumming in the higly respected and very successful originals band 6ix toys (www.6ixtoys.co.uk) together with Mark as well as
gigging with Soul Reason
Adam Sinclair is one of the highest respected young drummers in the North East, featuring in countless acts over the past years. He joined Soul Reason after meeting Edd at college and features in 'Mama Coca' and 'Peculiar disco moves' (http://www.myspace.com/peculiardiscomoves) with him also. He first joined Soul Reason as a trombone player but soon became one of the familiar faces on drums.
Mark Beaney/Graham Sinclair -
Bass
Mark began playing the guitar at a very early age and
progressed through the grades. Mark completed his degree in music at the
Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts and is regarded as one of the best young
musicians in the country. Mark is the guitarist with the hugely successful
originals band 6ix toys (www.6ixtoys.co.uk) Mark's main instrument is the
guitar but this does not stop him from performing regularly as the bass player
in Soul Reason.
Graham is a highly respected bass player who has featured in many different function/original bands on the North East music scene. He is a member of mama coca (http://www.mamacoca.co.uk) along with his brother Adam and Edd.
Edd Carr/Pete Snowdon - Guitar/Backing Vocals
Edd is a former member of the well known and highly successful 'Hotrock
House Band' along with Guy and John. Edd completed a degree in Jazz, Popular
and Commercial Music at Newcastle Music College 3 years ago and has gone on to
teach music at the college and privately. Edd is now one of the most respected
guitarists in Newcastle featuring in many live acts all over the North East
Pete began bringing his lighting quick fingers and rock guitar to Soul Reason a few years ago now and has since become a well known face in the line up. He plays with various bands throughout the north east including Grooveline (www.grooveline.co.uk) and in a duo with Greg (see 'the duo')
Greg Johnston - Piano/Backing Vocals
Greg began playing the piano at the early age of 7 and is originally from Cumbria. He moved to Newcastle in 2003 and joined Soul Reason shortly after meeting Edd on the jazz, pop and commercial music degree at Newcastle College. Greg gigs a solo set at various venues in Newcastle and also plays in a duo along with Pete (see 'the duo').
Tom Hodgson - Trumpet
Tom hails from Bradford, where he grew up playing in many brass bands and orchestras. He moved to Newcastle in 2003 to study at Newcastle College. He joined the band in 2004 and began a degree course at Newcastle University. Tom is now studying for a doctorate at Oxford University in between gigs with Soul Reason and his new originals project 'The Yarns' (http://www.myspace.com/TheYarnsUK)
Pete Liddle -
Trombone
Pete is the newest
member of Soul Reason and first joined us a few years ago for a gig in Loch
Lomond. Since then he has become the well established 8th member of
the lineup. Pete is a big player in many brass bands in the North East and
competes regularly for different honours throughout the country when he is not
on stage with Soul Reason
John Kinghorn - Saxophone
John is a well known and well established member of the North East music scene, having played in highly successful bands such as the earlier mentioned 'Hotrock House Band' and more recently 'The Dans'. After completing a course at Newcastle Music College John moved into further education, completing training to become a qualified music teacher. John spent two years teaching music at Venerable Bede school in Sunderland before travelling in Australia
